2011: 26/365 Derby Day!

26 FEB 2011

It's Pinewood Derby day for my son's cub scout pack! This is my son's car, which he and his father built together. He had another car that he made all by himself, but this was the one he wanted to use in the race. It got him 2nd place! He was one proud little cub scout.

The Race is On

DAY 59

28 FEB 09

Day 59 was Pinewood Derby day for my son's Cub Scout pack. It was chaotic, noisy, and lots of fun for the boys and their families alike. Today's picture is my son's entry during weigh-in.

My son and my husband built the car together, although my husband did the majority of the work. Next year, my son will be old enough to contribute even more. We're all looking forward to that.

The car did well; it didn't get knocked out until two eliminations before the finals. Of course, my son was disappointed, but he did better this year than he has in the past couple. Plus, after the races were over, the boys were allowed to challenge whichever cars they wanted. In those challenges, my son's car beat the third place car. Beat it by quite a bit. That made him feel much better.

Post-processing included cropping, noise reduction, sharpening, curves adjustment, and border addition.

DAY 6

06 JAN 09

Day 6 of Project 365 was a Tuesday. Tuesday is my very busy with the kids day. From the time they get home from school, I'm off and running -- Mom's Shuttle Service. They both have activities, and they overlap. So when I say I'm running, I mean that almost literally (except for the fact I have a vehicle).

This shot is from the final activity of the night (for them, anyway; I still had to get dinner together and finish laundry and sweep the kitchen...). I'd just picked my daughter up from her Tae Kwon Do lesson, and walked in to see my son's Cub Scout Bear Den making puzzles out of magazine pictures.

Obviously, my son was a little ambitious. Cutting those pieces out was interesting.
