2012 015/366: More Fog

Don't say I didn't warn you! While this particular photo, on the surface, may not appear to be school-related, appearances are deceiving. I was driving to school when I took this photo -- you'll probably see quite a few "on my way to school" photos over the next year, as well.

More fair warning. Just sayin'.

On Day 15, we had more precipitation. And more fog. So much fog, it was hard to see the new overpass currently under construction until I was almost right under it. Scary, that.

First fog, then rain. It's been a very wet few days. Most people complain. Not me; I love the rain. I love the sound. I love the smell. What I don't love is the traffic it creates.

2010: Rush Hour

My mother spent Christmas with my family, and Day 5 was the day she went home. On our way to the airport, we hit rush hour traffic. As it is in many metropolitan areas, in Atlanta that means you come to a full and complete stop (keep your seat belt fastened and your arms inside the car). So while we were sitting in stopped traffic, I quick-like grabbed this photo of the sun setting behind the information sign telling me how long it would take me to get to a place I didn't want to go.

I'm happy to add we got to the airport on time.

Headlights On When Raining

This was one of those happy accident photos. My husband and I were driving up to the North Georgia Mountains to look at go-karts, and were rained on most of the way up there. Not necessarily a bad thing, I'm still not sick of the wet stuff.

Anyway, I thought the sky looked kind of cool up ahead, so I decided to take a photo as we drove. Normally, when I want a photo of the raindrops on the windshield, I struggle to get the camera to focus on the drops instead of the background. With this photo, I wanted the background. Of course, the camera focused on the drops.

Murphy's Law, right?

I still think it turned out well, though. I like the way the background looks thrown out of focus. Those headlights kind of look like giant eyes. Giant shocked eyes. And the taillights, well, they kind of look UFO-ish.

The one thing I really don't like is the reflection of my dashboard in the windshield. But other than that, I like the shot.

Post-processing: noise reduction, sharpening, curves adjustment, mild saturation boost, border addition.

Lovin' the Job

As posed as this photo may appear to be, I don't think this police officer even knew I was there. I was stopped at an intersection where crews were working on the stoplights. He was one of a handful of lawmen directing traffic around the work trucks with cranes that were just outside the frame on both sides.

When I look at this picture, I like to think that broad smile is on his face because he loves his job so much. Truth is, I think he was laughing at something his partner had just said. Although it's still possible he loves his job. Especially since it allowed him to be outdoors on an absolutely gorgeous day.
