2010: My Clementine

2010 Day 33

02 FEB 2010

This was my first year to buy those little Clementines when they hit the stores, but it certainly won't be the last. They were kind of expensive, but oh-ehm-gee, were they yummy! We ended up buying three little containers of them before they disappeared.

Pictured here is the orange plastic netting that held those succulent little babies in their tiny wooden crate. Look closer and you'll even see some of the fruit beneath that netting.

No Bursting Allowed

DAY 52

21 FEB 09

Day 52 found me with my husband, browsing one of his favorite stores -- the local home improvement supply joint. I don't mind it much, although there are times when my eyes start to glaze over and my mind begins to wander. Lucky for me, I had my little camera with me to stem any boredom.

I took pictures of a bunch of stuff: ropes, nails, knee protection, wire fencing, but it was this photo of an air hose that really caught my eye. Not just because of the wonderful bright orange color, but also the text. Seriously, who can resist anything that says BURSTING? It calls to mind all sorts of fun scenarios.

Post processing was the same ol'/same ol': noise reduction, sharpening, curves bump, and border addition.

This Way and That

DAY 23

23 JAN 09

It's an evening shot. Sunset. Yes, it's kind of a cop out. Almost a cliche. But we need a good cliche every once in a while. And it's here for the simple reason that on Day 23 of Project 365, the scene struck me.

I was waiting for my daughter to finish her soccer tryouts for the day (she just got word today, BTW, she made the team!) and the sky over the soccer field caught my attention. More precisely, the clouds did. They seemed to be in motion though they didn't appear to be moving. It almost looked they they were starting to go one way, changed their mind, then went the other way. And the result was a cool scene to my eyes.

A little bit heavier post-processing on this one: the usual sharpening and noise reduction, plus a boost in blues and the addition of a polarizing effect.
