Paw-to-Paw

Day 161

10 JUNE 09

I often refer to my children's hands and feet as their paws, so when I saw the opportunity to compare a real paw to one of my children's paws, I was all over it.

This is our older dog's paw next to my daughter's. We adopted this dog from Animal Control when was was just 8 weeks old. At the time, my daughter was a month away from turning 2. In other words, these two grew up together. In fact, they grew up as siblings, complete with the sibling rivalry and arguments.

They're both 14 now (well, technically, he'll be 14 in 2 months), and still the best of friends.

Post-processing: noise reduction, sharpening, a little cloning to fix a ragged toenail, border addition.

  1. This photo and your comments made me smile. I am thinking that my dog's paw might actually be bigger than my paw. Love the story of dog and child growing up together. Dog's are definitely family.

  2. I love bringing about smiles! Thanks for letting me know.

We have two dogs, and they are absolutely family. The one in this picture doesn't even realize he's a dog! Then again, I guess that stands to reason since they are more family members than they are pets...
