16 MAY 09
My mother was in from out of town, and she's been wanting to go gem grubbing and gold panning for a long time. On Day 136, we went.
We all hopped into the truck and headed up to Dahlonega, GA, stopping at the place billed as the oldest gold mining establishment in North Georgia. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, you spend more money than what the gold and gems you find are worth. But then again, it's not about the gold and gems you find, is it? It's all about the experience.
They had gold pans set up lining the -- I don't know what to call it -- water trough (?), reflecting nicely in the water. That's my family on down the line, in the middle of panning for gold.
A fun day had by all.
Post-processing: noise reduction, sharpening, horizon straightening, border addition.
