Nut and Bolt. Rusted.

DAY 56

25 FEB 09

My daughter had an away game with her junior varsity soccer team. They were playing at a field we'd been to before with a different team; it was actually a large and pretty darned nice soccer complex. When my son and I got there, it was a chilly evening, and we ended up having to go back out to the truck a couple times. Lucky for us there wasn't many people there.

One of the times we were heading back to the bleachers, I happened to look down at where the bleacher legs met the cement pads. There were these wonderful rusty bolts. At least, they were wonderful from a photography perspective. I certainly hope they weren't rusted through and in danger of breaking.

For our purposes here, we'll say the rusty bolts were wonderful. Wonderful enough to be photographed. I took a handful of pictures of them; this one was my favorite.

Nothing new in the post-processing: noise reduction, sharpening, curves adjustment and border addition.

(Yes, the post title is a lame attempt at a B-52's reference.)

  1. I love photos of rusty things! Does your family ever give you funny looks or a hard time for the things you photograph? Mine does!

Wow! I haven't thought about the B-52's in a loooong time!

  2. My family absolutely gives me funny looks, and then they help. Take tonight, for example. My husband gave me the classic eyeroll as I took photos of the menu, chips, and salsa and our local Mexican joint, then he proceeded to pose a chip in the salsa for me.

My family is so confused. ;)

I kept hearing that line from "Love Shack" when I typed the title. I can't help thinking of the B-52's; they got their start not far from where I live.
